A landmark of Essen is the Villa Hügel on the Ruhr Heights, which was planned by Alfred Krupp himself and built between 1870 and 1873. The villa and the huge property with old trees is a symbol of Germany's industrialization. You can learn the history of the Krupp family and the company “in the footsteps of the Krupp family” in the historical exhibition at Villa Hügel and end the experience with a long walk through the beautiful park.
